WHAT IS BAIL?

Bail is some type of property that's deposited or promised to the court in order to persuade it to release a suspect from jail. This is usually done with the understanding that the suspect will come back for trial or relinquish the bail. In some cases, the suspect can be charged with failed to appear in court.

WHAT IS A BAIL BONDSMAN?

A bail bond agent or a bondsman is any individual or corporation that will act as a guarantor for the suspect and offer money or property as bail in exchange for the suspect to appear in court.

Banks, insurance companies, and other similar businesses are often the guarantor on other types of contracts. In these cases, they are usually hesitant to put their account holders' or policyholders' funds at the type of risk when posting a bail bond.

On the opposing side, bail bond agents usually cater to criminal defendants, and often post bail for the defendant's release within few hours.

WHAT IS AN INDEMNITOR OR COSIGNER?

An indemnitor or cosigner is someone who has agreed to be financially responsible for the entire amount of the bail bond in the event the defendant does not make a court appearance and can't return to court.

An indemnitor must pay any costs incurred if the defendant misses a court date. If there's more than one indemnitor, both are jointly and equally liable. The money could potentially be due from one or both parties.

WHAT IS COLLATERAL?

Collateral can be money, property, etc. It's deposited with the bail bond company. It's usually held until the bond is cleared and the premium is paid in full. At  Areawide-Amigo Bailbonds, we accept various forms of collateral, including real estate, cars, credit cards, stocks, bonds, jewelry, personal credit, and bank accounts.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET OUT OF JAIL?

Our agents must complete paperwork first, which usually takes approximately 10-15 minutes. After that, it usually takes between 2-4 hours after the jail receives our bond. It also depends on how busy the jail is as well.

HOW DO I GET A WARRANT FOR MY ARREST LIFTED?

If you think you have a warrant for your arrest, contact an attorney. They will review the arrest warrant records and let you know which courts have placed warrants against you. Sometimes your attorney can have your warrants cancelled and then negotiate a plea bargain with the prosecutor regarding the charges.
